Hey friend,
If you know me you know that I love to entertain. Aside from entertaining I like to give. It brings me joy to give gifts. I am able to combine the two when we have overnight guests. Living in Belgium has allowed us to welcome guests for a longer period of time. Preparing gift baskets for our overnight guests has become a ritual I have gladly taken on.
From putting fresh linen on then guest bed to wrapping towels with bows and placing little chocolates on them; I simply love the process. Carefully handpicking items for guests and making sure they are tailored to your guest’s needs is one simple way to make your guests feel welcomed.
Here are some of my favorite items to place in the basket.
- Water – because who doesn’t get thirsty at night? If you ask me it is incredibly awkward to walk into a kitchen, that is not yours in the middle of the night to reach into someone else’s refrigerator. Water is also an item I like to replenish in the guest room from time to time, depending on how long the stay is.
- Toothbrush, Toothpaste, and Mouthwash. Let’s be honest, the last thing I want is for my guest to show up to the breakfast table with morning-breath. I also despise having to take toothpaste on a trip, its bulky and big, and an item that should remain in your bathroom… at home.
- Facial Items such as cleansing wipes, face lotion, and a travel-size toner or micellar water.Because they are so dang cute in travel size.
- Deodorant – self-explanatory, right?
- Large or regular size shower gel, this is another item your guest shouldn’t have to worry about taking with them on their travels.
- A little bonus I like to place in the basket is a candle and a face mask. While the entire basket is a gift, the candle and mask are a little feel-good bonus.
I guarantee that with a basket like this, your guest will feel right at home.
Frankly Julie
